Josie

“GO didn’t just help me get caught up in the classroom – their support extended past academic instruction and gave me a community I could count on.”

Josie began her journey with the GO Project in 2nd grade, when her teacher noticed she was struggling and recommended GO to her family. With GO’s support, Josie received an evaluation and an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). That gave her access to extra time on tests and helpful learning tools—making academic success possible.

“When it was time to apply to high school, GO helped with my admission essay and video.”

Thanks to that support, Josie was accepted to Bard High School Early College, where she’ll earn both a high school diploma and an Associate’s Degree in just two years.

Beyond academics, GO showed Josie the power of community. She joined Bard’s swim team and now volunteers at GO on Saturdays and during the summer.

“GO made the difference. I started as a discouraged 2nd grader, but now I’m on track to graduate with a college degree. GO isn’t just a place for extra help—it’s a real community. That’s why I keep coming back and giving back.
